The Milne Bay Teachers College has finally become a reality after a decade-long wait under the watch of past political leaders. Thanks to Honorable Governor Gordon Wesley for his leadership, foresight, and undivided support. As Maxwell wisely said, "Everything rises and falls on leadership," and Governor Wesley’s leadership exemplifies this truth. Undeniably, supportive political leadership, as demonstrated by Governor Wesley, is shaping the educational landscape at all levels from primary and secondary schools to higher education institution within Milne Bay Province.
Governor Wesley’s vision to make MBTC a dream come true for the people of Milne Bay Province has finally materialized. His investment is nothing short of transformative for the future of Milne Bay.
From funding five staff houses and providing a principal’s vehicle to presenting a sponsorship cheque of K256,000 for 26 students, the Honorable Governor’s generosity has brought immense relief to ease the financial strain on the parents of Milne Bay Province.
The Principal, in his acknowledgment letter, expressed deep gratitude, emphasizing the lasting impact this support will have on trainee teachers. He stated, "When one trainee teacher is supported, a whole family and community is empowered. When you invest in a single trainee teacher, you are investing in 40 to 70 students within the household, clan, tribe, and community. You and I are the products of a simple classroom teacher, and now we are contributing to Milne Bay Province."
Investing resources in the teachers college has a lasting transformative power to change Milne Bay Province," said the Principal.
The Principal further highlighted that the funds will be utilized to purchase laptops and provide Wi-Fi access, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
The Principal also extended thanks to the Provincial Government, Works Unit, Revenue and Assets and Division of Education for their continuous support in progressing the development of this college.
Milne Bay Teachers College stands as a symbol of hope and opportunity, and it is leaders like Governor Wesley who ensure that this light continues to shine brightly. We are deeply grateful for his vision, commitment, and belief in the power of education to transform lives.
